BCGBA Draft Development Strategy

Attached is the draft Development Strategy that is due to be considered at the BCGBA AGM alongside the £1 a player proposal to fund it.  The table at the end of the draft strategy sets out how the monies will be spent to invest in the sport.  This includes in coaching and equipment that would be purchased to be used by clubs in Lancashire, as well as better publicity and promotion for the sport.

  1. Hi Ian, I couldn’t get the ‘Leave a comment’ button to work. Probably my IPad. My comment is as follows:- I like a lot of the content of this strategy and indeed have adopted or used a lot of the new player recruitment ideas as Chairman for my Club, Doe Hey and also my Vets League for which I am treasurer. However, during 40 or so years working in the public and private sector on major regeneration and associated projects I don’t remember a strategy that is so long. I play for 3 clubs and I think it will blow the mind of most of the people who are active at my level of promoting the game. I also worry it will depend on lots of people who are volunteers, with limited time to devote to activity. I’ve not looked at the funding chart in too much detail but on a cursory glance it seemed to be skewed towards the elite aspects of the sport by paying for kits. I hope I am wrong and will do what I can to support the strategy as it is rolled out. There are aspects of it we can pick up on. I am well aware we need to do something or the sport could well fade out. Regards and Take care. Steve Partington.
