Lancashire CCGB have just been told that Ken Moffitt’s Funeral is TODAY.

The Funeral details are as follows: the church service is at St Anne’s Church, Beech Hill, Wigan, WN6 7TA. @ 1pm. Followed at the Wigan Crematorium, Cemetery Road, Ince, Wigan, WN3 4NN @ 2pm. Ken passed away on August 21st 2026.

Keith Andrews, the Lancashire Secretary, commented as follows:

“Mr Ken Moffitt has been a valued member of the Lancashire C.C.G.B.A. Executive for well over 20years; he attended all the County Matches to help in any way he could until he could no longer walk. He would sit at the entrance to the venue & collect the money for the programs & no one got past him. What was asked of Ken was never to much trouble for him. As the Secretary to the Wigan Churches Bowling League, when the Affiliation forms & fees came around each year, I knew everything he did was correct to the last detail, which helped me tremendously. R.I.P. Ken“

Lancashire CCGBA is sad to announce that Mr Ken Moffitt passed away on the 21st August 2026. Ken did a lot of work for Lancashire CCGBA and was a life member of Association. More details will follow when they are received.

A level 1 coaching course is going to be held at St Marie’s BC, Standish. See https://www.coachbowls.org/course/crown-green-level-1-st-maries-bowls-club-wigin/ for more details. The first two sessions are online with the first session on 13 August. The practical sessions will be at St Marie’s.

A Level 1 course is being run at Walton Hall Park,, Liverpool soon. The first two modules are on line on 23 June and 7 July, with only the practical session and Assessment being held at the park. We are putting out a general request for anyone interested in a local level 1 training course to be hosted at St Maries Standish.
We need 6/8 trainees to make a course feasible currently we have 3 from Standish & Chorley. We are calling on clubs in Orrell, Wigan and Chorley to ask their members for interest.

To All County Secretaries and CMCs

I would ask that you please forward this email to all clubs, leagues and associations within your County as soon as possible please.

I have not yet received a date for when the automated process for ‘opting in’ to the BCGBA Group Insurance Policy will be available.  

As the bowling season is only a few weeks away now I would advise that any club, league or association who wishes to ‘opt in’ to the BCGBA Group Policy should do so as soon as possible using the manual process described in the attached document, which is a copy of the one that was circulated in December 2025.  It is important that everyone has their insurance cover in place for the start of the bowling season.
