Sport England Funding

Sport England’s Places and Spaces fund is being boosted to £7 million as it goes nationwide to help communities across England benefit from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Originally launched in November, with £3.5m to cater for organisations from the West Midlands, Sport England is now committing extra National Lottery funding to extend the fund across England and help community organisations make small-scale facility improvements that will help to develop places and spaces wanting to use Birmingham 2022 as a catalyst to improve community sport and physical activity.

While the fund is now available to applicants nationwide, Greater Manchester and Merseyside are among the four areas that have been selected for targeted investment to support people to get, having been identified as areas of underrepresentation inactivity figures.

If clubs click on the Sport England link, it will take them to their Places and Spaces page for more details.  Further funding may be available through the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund.

Social Prescribing Survey for Clubs

The following message has been circulated in relation to the NW Active Partnership Survey to see whether your club may have involvement in or what you might know about social prescribing.  This is particularly relevant to those clubs involved with Bowl for Health initiatives but also to those that may be interested in the future in such an initiative or in dealing with the health sector to get more people bowling, the survey also contains information that may be useful to you and your club.  It would be great to see bowls represented.  The current deadline is this Friday but the form is not that long.  Apologies if you have received this via another route. The message and link is set out below…….

Please find below a link to the North-West Physical Activity Provider Survey and Learning Tool.  This survey is for any organisation, community group or club, that provides activities involving movement (e.g. gardening, walking, swimming, dance sessions, exercise classes, sports and so on).  Your help circulating the survey through your networks to make sure it reaches as many physical activity providers as possible, would be greatly appreciated.  If you would like to see the full list of questions, please do get in touch.

Deadline for completion: Friday 4th March, 2022.

This survey and learning tool has been developed by the North-West Active Partnership Social Prescribing Forum, members of which promote and support physical activity delivery across the region.

Survey purpose:  To better understand the knowledge and experiences of physical activity providers in relation to social prescribing, while also providing some degree of learning about social prescribing.  You can take part in the survey, whether your organisation is or is not currently involved in social prescribing.  We aim to respond to the feedback received by for example – offering support, training or development opportunities – for both physical activity providers and link workers.  This is to ensure physical activity contributes as fully as possible, to the health and wellbeing of those referred in to social prescribing schemes, living across the region.  It is hoped by physical activity providers completing this survey, it will benefit them and their participants.
