Lancs Merit Qualifier at Ormskirk – change of date

The Lancashire Senior Merit qualifier that was due to be held on the morning of Sunday 14 May on the grass green at Ormskirk Bowling Club has been moved forward a day to the morning of Saturday 13th May on the artificial green, still at Ormskirk BC. This avoids a clash with the Federation match on the Sunday. Contact Graham Royles for entry. Details on lancashirebowls.com on the Competitions page.

Bowls’ Big Weekend

The Bowls’ Big Weekend (BBW) website is now live and clubs can sign up. The BBW runs from Friday 26th May until Monday 29th May 2023. All registered clubs will receive a resource pack including posters, flyers, new bowler guides and balloons in support of their big day. You will also receive a Club Information Guide and the opportunity to access additional resources for use in support of your event including social media graphics, banners and other event materials. Take a look at https://www.bowlsbigweekend.com/ to see more details. You need to know which day(s) on the weekend you are going to be running your event(s) to register. The marketing materials for crown green clubs will be provided without the Aviva branding (as the BCGBA has a relationship with Endsleigh Insurance) and should be available soon.

Your Development Officer, Ian Gill, intends to hold a free online seminar for clubs thinking about taking part in the BBW (or holding an open day at another time) to give some hints and tips on how to go about planning for it and what should happen afterwards. Keep your eye out on this News Page for more details which will appear soon. If you are going to take part in the Bowls’ Big weekend and/or would like to attend the seminar please complete the short form below so Ian can contact you directly with details when they are available.

Easy way to raise money for your Club

Were you aware that the BCGBA has partnered with easyfundraising, a new funding source for your club.  easyfundraising turns your everyday online shopping into free donations for your Club.

You first need to register your Club for free at easyfundraising.org.uk/crown-green-bowls/, then encourage your members and their families to sign up to support your Club.

When you are ready to shop online, first go to the easyfundraising website or app, and then you can shop as normal at over 6,000 retailers.  The retailer will then send a donation to your club at no extra cost on a regular basis.

Ormskirk Bowling Club started using this at the start of February and has already raised over £50! Information can also be found on the BCGBA website.
