The latest BCGBA newsletter is available to be viewed/downloaded here. It contains details of the latest work being undertaken in conjunction with the BDA and on the forthcoming Bowls’ Big Weekend.

The Bowls’ Big Weekend will be held on 27-29 May 2022 and you can register interest for your Club now by visiting the Bowls’ Big Weekend Website. Further information and support will be forthcoming from the BCGBA for clubs that register. There will be materials that can be used to promote your event(s).

Ormskirk Bowling Club was one of those that took part last year and had 70 people attending their three sessions. They signed up 22 new members directly and a further 9 new members from subsequent follow on sessions. A full case study is attached that provides a bit more information on what they did.

Attached for information are the slides that were discussed at a recent meeting between the BDA and BCGBA. There will be further information coming out in due course about the joint work being undertaken between the two organisations.

A Safeguarding Course is going to be run at St Matthews Church, Billinge Road, Wigan. WN3 6BL on 26th February from 11.00 until 2.00. Also DBS can be renewed on that day. Ring Hilda Jones to book your place.

The date of Eric’s funeral is on Wednesday 2nd February at S Katherine’s Church, Church Street, Blackrod, BL6 5EW @ 11am.

We have just received the sad news that Mr Eric Wood, Secretary of Hilltops B.C. passed away this morning, R.I.P. He was a Life Member of L.C.C.G.B.A. Details if the funeral arrangements will be posted when we receive them.

The Lancashire County A.G.M., due to be held this Saturday 22nd January 2022 has been cancelled due to Covid.

The new date for the Lancashire A.G.M. is Sunday 27th February 2022 at Leigh Miners Welfare Club, Kirby Road, Leigh, WN7 4EF. Start 1pm.

Sport England have launched a new £5 million fund to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, that aims to use sport and physical activity to bring communities together and tackle inequalities.

Using money from the National Lottery, the fund will make awards of between £300 and £10,000 to community organisations in support of new projects providing opportunities to become more physically active.  The funds could be used for things such as facility hire and coaching costs, or even small capital improvements.
